VICE PRESIDENT OF PROGRAMMING

The ArtCenter/South Florida (the “Center”) seeks a Vice President of Programming to lead the organization’s multi-faceted public, community, and educational programs.
As a member of the Center’s senior management team, the new Vice President of Programming must build on the current programming and provide the vision to implement a plan for the next phase of growth, connecting the institution to its artists, public and patrons.
Candidates must have a proven record and experience to: provide vision to the Center’s board, staff, and community; develop plans for the Center’s exhibition program; cultivate patrons and fundraising opportunities; manage a talented staff, volunteers, collaborations and community partners; and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. This position will be a leading public voice for the Center. CENTER BACKGROUND:
The ArtCenter/South Florida opened its doors to the public in 1984. The Center has an annual operating budget of $ 2.7 million and an endowment of $100 million. The Center has 13 employees and a Board of Directors presently composed of 12 members.
Through its artist residency program, exhibitions, studio art classes, educational programs, outreach programs, art film program, community events and curatorial lectures, the Center is recognized as the cultural artist support organization of Miami Beach.

The Vice President of Programming has primary responsibility for the conception, implementation, administration, and evaluation of all of the Center’s public and programming initiatives, including oversight of our collaborations, residency and community outreach efforts. The Vice President of Programming reports to the Center’s CEO, is part of the Senior Management Team (along with the CFO), and leads a core team of five full-time and two part-time employees. The Vice President of Programming is a high-profile position and will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of audiences in the Miami community as well as the international art scene. · Execute current initiatives and develop a long-term plan for the Center’s programming efforts.
· Provide new vision and focus for the Center’s residency and educational initiatives.
· Evaluate audiences and create new strategies to improve and increase participation.
· Build the Center’s relationships and collaborations with the local and international communities.
· Strengthen staff capacity and create a culture rewarding innovation, collaboration, professional development and accountability.
· Collaborate with Senior Management Team to develop fund- and friend-raising efforts to support the Center’s program activity. RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership
- Provide a compelling vision for the Center’s educational efforts.
- Create a strategic plan to drive vitality of the Center and its residency programs.
- Develop staff, volunteers, and public efforts to strengthen the Center.
- Direct program evaluation and generate and provide metrics to share with internal and external partners.
- Act as a spokesperson for the Center’s public programming initiatives.
- Oversee the Center’s public programming efforts including: community outreach, lectures, symposia and other public programs.
- Supervise programming staff, contract personnel and volunteers.
- Develop and manage the Center’s programming budget.
- Engage the Center’s Board to achieve a long-range strategic plan for programming.
- Collaborate with the CEO to ensure successful support and funding for programming initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Communications Manager to ensure excellence in communication of all programming and interpretive materials.
- Represent the department at internal and external meetings.
- Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the President/CEO.
- Reports to the President/CEO and is member of the Center’s Senior Management team.
- Works closely with the President/CEO and the Center’s CFO, Communications Manager, Artistic Director, Director of Facilities, Assistant to the President/CEO.
- Supervises the Programming Department full and part time staff and Volunteers.
