Unconventional is creating an Art Assistant team to bring its mural activations to life. We are seeking individuals passionate about high-caliber art production. Ideal Art Assistants are committed to constant personal growth and eager to become more deeply involved in community building projects. An excellent work ethic is required. Art Assistants must be skilled at communicating with people across cultures and ages, while both managing time and upholding high levels of professionalism.

Role Description:
An Art Assistant guides Unconventional’s mural production technique to completion. Art Assistants will develop interpersonal skills, as well as a strong team work-ethic and invaluable time management techniques. Assistants will work in various settings with diverse groups of people to have a positive impact on the world. Hours will vary per production.

The Responsibilities (Vary per production) :
  • Respond to ‘on call’ job opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Setup & breakdown art & event productions.
  • Build & prime mural structures or walls.
  • Prepare, transport & handle art supplies before & after activations.
  • Assist with painting during an interactive production.
  • Deeply engage participants with different learning styles or interests other than your own.
  • Distribute paint efficiently with excellent user experience in mind.
  • Clean all supplies after activations are complete.
  • Lift and carry boxes and other items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Intermittently stand, walk, sit, squat, stretch and bend throughout the workday.
  • Assist with inventory as needed.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be 18+ years or older.
  • Strong experience with painting, and familiarity with multiple painting techniques.
  • 1+ year(s) of relevant experience or training with painting, drawing, curating, or production.
  • Professional demeanor and persona.
  • Punctuality.
  • Impressive listening skills and ability to take instruction for the purpose of growth.
  • Ability to handle various roles or tasks related to art and event production.
  • Customer service and/or event coordination experience are a plus.
  • Fluency in English a must; Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • Private transportation is a plus (transportation costs are the individual’s responsibility).
