Job Description:

The Deering Estate Foundation is seeking a Development Director with an innate passion for historic preservation, environmental conservation and the arts with a minimum of 5 years of experience and demonstrated fundraising success in South Florida.  
 
Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director and the Foundation’s Fundraising & Development Committee, the Development Director is responsible for developing all aspects of a comprehensive and ongoing development program with emphasis on annual giving, campaign development, major gifts and naming opportunities.  As a newly added position to the organization, the Development Director will have the opportunity to creatively expand the Foundation’s development strategies, functions and execution.

Job Requirements:

 
  • BA (required), MA (a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in development, including demonstrated success in annual fund, major gifts, and capital campaign leadership.
  • Sincere appreciation and passion for the Deering Estate Foundation’s mission encompassing historic preservation, environmental conservation, arts, culture and education.
  • Demonstrated success within the South Florida philanthropic and corporate community
  • Experience in managing major components of an effective development program including identification, cultivation and solicitation from individuals, foundations and corporations and providing appropriate stewardship and recognition for major gifts.
  • Demonstrated excellence in creative & effective campaign development, communications, execution and management.
  • Demonstrated excellence in marketing leveraging print, online, social media and web-based communication to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Flexibility to support a working schedule that includes some evenings, weekends and holidays as required to support programs and events.
  • Bi-lingual a plus.
  • Must be proficient in general office technology.
