Job Description:

ArtCenter/South Florida seeks a Chief Financial Officer reporting to the President/CEO and the Finance Committee. This role requires the ability to exercise accountability and fiduciary oversight in making decisions for the ArtCenter/South Florida.

ArtCenter/South Florida supports artists and advances the knowledge and practice of contemporary visual arts and culture in South Florida. ArtCenter creates opportunities for experimentation and innovation, and encourages the exchange of ideas across cultures through residencies, exhibitions, public programs, education and outreach. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute ArtCenter’s financial management and treasury activities in a manner that supports the strategic mission and complies with policy, laws, standards and regulations.
  • Provide board with financials and advice to carry out their fiduciary and regulatory compliance duties.
  • Works with executive team and board to proactively reduce risk from financial losses due to error or misappropriation of assets; monitors outcomes, ensuring that the ArtCenter complies with laws and policies; provides direction as needed.
  • Develop and monitor the annual administrative and programmatic budgets in close collaboration with the President/CEO.
  • Collaborate with executive team to develop and execute the ArtCenter’s budget and strategic plan.
  • Develop and maintain a system of operating policies and procedures to maximize efficient use of resources
  • Forecast cash flow and available funds for ongoing operational needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient reporting processes and tools that empower management to make informed business decisions.
  • Serve a key role in the administration of the board and critical organizational matters including acting as counselor to the president on various affairs.
  • Responsible for human resources, finance and accounting, administrative services, grants management and records.
  • Serve as an ambassador who establishes strong relationships with peers at other organizations and expands the ArtCenter’s position as a leader.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; experience in financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting and accounting practices and operations; working knowledge of IRS regulations affecting operations and reporting requirements; experience managing, coaching and supervising people; proficient in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office, especially excel and word, highly organized with attention to detail.
